New Residential Garage Door Installation — Metro Vancouver
We supply and install residential garage doors — sectional steel, insulated, and carriage-house style. We measure on-site, confirm the opening dimensions and headroom before ordering anything, and do the full installation including a new opener if needed.
Doors We Install
- Clopay: wide residential range. Their Coachman collection (steel with composite overlay) gets a lot of requests in Kitsilano, Point Grey, and West Vancouver — looks like a carriage door without the wood maintenance. Their Gallery Collection and modern full-view glass options are also popular.
- CHI: good structural quality, competitive on insulated steel doors. The CHI 2250 and 3250 series are common in Metro Vancouver new builds.
- Wayne Dalton: available for specific architectural requirements.
Insulation
For an attached garage in Metro Vancouver climate, we recommend a door with at least R-12 insulation value. An insulated door keeps the garage cooler in summer, reduces condensation in winter, and runs quieter. The price difference over a non-insulated door is modest; the long-term difference is meaningful.
What the Process Looks Like
1. We measure the opening — width, height, headroom, side room, and depth.
2. We confirm what opener the door requires (or whether your existing opener is compatible with the new door weight).
3. We order through our supplier. Lead time varies by door model — typically 1-3 weeks.
4. Installation day: remove old door and hardware, install new door sections and spring system, install or reinstall opener, test and adjust travel limits.
