Residential Garage Door Repair in Metro Vancouver

Garage Door Repair — real job photo, Up & Down Garage Doors.

Garage doors don’t fail on a quiet Tuesday afternoon. They fail at 7am with the car trapped inside, or at night in January when the rain is coming in sideways. We run same-day residential repair across Metro Vancouver out of our shop on Horseshoe Way in Richmond — springs, cables, rollers, track, panels, openers, the whole assembly.

Houses and townhomes only. We don’t touch warehouses or strata parkade doors, and that’s deliberate: a truck that doesn’t have to carry commercial stock has room for every common residential spring size, which is most of the reason a first-visit fix is the normal outcome and not a lucky one.

What We Repair

Broken springs

The most common call we get, and the one people try to muscle through by lifting the door themselves — don’t. A torsion spring on a double door is holding back well over a hundred pounds of counterbalance. We replace them in matched pairs, sized to the actual weighed door, because a new spring paired with a nine-year-old one just means a second visit next winter.

Snapped or frayed cables

Cables fray from the bottom up where road salt and puddle water sit against the drum wire. If one side went, the other side has the same mileage on it. Both get replaced.

Worn rollers

You hear this one before you see it. Steel rollers get loud years before they seize; nylon ones just quietly wear flat. Either way it’s a quick swap that takes more strain off the opener than people expect.

Bent or misaligned track

Usually a bumper’s fault. Sometimes a spring let go and the door racked itself on the way down. Minor bends get straightened on the spot; kinked sections get replaced.

Panel damage

One crushed section doesn’t mean a new door. If the rest of the door is straight and the model is still made, we swap the single panel.

Opener faults

Motors, logic boards, safety sensors that got knocked out of line by a bike tire, remotes, keypads. LiftMaster and Chamberlain make up most of what’s bolted to ceilings around here and we carry parts for both.

What to Do Right Now

If the door won’t move at all, leave it alone. Seriously — a door with a snapped cable or a jumped track is being held by whatever’s left, and forcing it is how doors end up on hoods. Pull the red release cord, leave the door where it sits, and call 778-873-7282.

If it still moves but something’s changed — a bang you haven’t heard before, grinding, one side dragging behind the other — park the car outside and stop cycling it. Almost every expensive repair we see started life as a cheap one that got run for another month.

Service Area

All of Metro Vancouver: Richmond, Vancouver (including Kitsilano, Point Grey, Dunbar, Kerrisdale, and the West End), Burnaby, Surrey, Coquitlam, Port Moody, New Westminster, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Delta, Langley, and Maple Ridge.

Garage door repair questions we get asked most

How fast can you get out for a garage door repair?

We are based on Horseshoe Way in Richmond and cover Metro Vancouver from there, so same-day service is the normal case rather than the exception. When you call, we will tell you honestly whether we can reach you today or the next morning instead of booking you in and leaving you waiting.

Will the repair be finished on the first visit?

Usually, yes. Our trucks carry springs, cables, rollers, hinges and common opener parts, so most residential faults are diagnosed and fixed in a single visit. If your door needs a part we do not stock, such as a panel for an older discontinued model, we will tell you on site what it is and how long it takes to get.

How do you price a repair?

We quote a flat rate for the work before anything starts, so you approve the number first. There are no hidden add-ons afterwards, and if we find a second problem partway through we stop and re-quote rather than simply adding it to the bill.

Which garage door and opener brands do you repair?

We service every major brand found in Metro Vancouver homes, including LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, Craftsman, Marantec, Linear, Stanley, Amarr, Clopay, Raynor and Wayne Dalton. Springs, cables, rollers and tracks are largely brand-independent, so an unusual door is rarely a problem.

Do you repair the door itself or only the opener?

Both. Openers are only part of the system, and a lot of calls that start as opener faults turn out to be a spring, cable or track problem forcing the motor to work against a door that is out of balance. We look at the whole assembly before recommending anything.
