Where This Operator Belongs

The MLT is the entry point of the Manaras trolley line. It suits small shops, low-traffic warehouse bays, and strata utility doors that cycle a few times a day. The intermittent-duty motor is the defining limit: specify it on a busy dock and the unit will fail early. For doors that run steadily all day, the OTH/OTBH or MGT worm-gear models are the appropriate step up.

Common Failure Points and How We Repair Them

  • Thermal overload trips: On doors that exceed the MLT’s low-cycle rating, the motor heats up and the internal overload shuts it down. The door “randomly stops working” until it cools. This is not a defect — it means the operator is undersized for the traffic. We diagnose the cycle count, reset the overload, and if the traffic has grown, we recommend upgrading to an OTH/OTBH rather than replacing burned motors repeatedly.
  • V-belt wear: Tension loss and glazing on the 4L/A V-belt are routine service items. We adjust or replace the belt and verify alignment.
  • Friction clutch: The externally adjustable clutch on the input shaft can slip or seize. We clean, lubricate, and re-set it to the door’s requirements.
  • Trolley track alignment: The dual 12-gauge galvanized tracks can shift over time. We realign and secure them, and adjust the cast aluminum trolley’s chain tension.

Choosing Between Models

If you are unsure which unit you have, check the data plate on the operator housing for the model code, voltage, and phase. Note roughly how many cycles per day the door runs — those three facts decide most of what we bring to a service call. For the full Manaras range, see the commercial operator reference or our operator repair page.

Parts and Accessories

The MLT pairs with the full Manaras accessory range: photo eyes, light curtains and sensing edges, radio controls, and control stations. One frequent point of confusion: on a UL 325 monitored circuit, a failed safety device makes the operator refuse to close. That is correct behaviour, not a malfunction. A door that suddenly will not close, with no other symptom, is very often a photo eye or sensing edge that has failed or drifted out of alignment. We stock and install these accessories and can diagnose safety-circuit faults on the spot.
