Off Track Door Repair

A garage door comes off its track when the rollers jump out of the track channel. It usually happens after a vehicle bumps the door, after a cable or spring failure, or when the track has bent enough that the rollers cannot stay seated. The door becomes stuck — often partially open — and trying to force it makes the damage worse.

Do Not Force It

Stop using the door as soon as you notice it is off-track. An off-track door can jam further or drop suddenly. Disengage the opener using the red emergency cord and call us. Do not try to push the rollers back in by hand — the spring is still under tension and the geometry of the door changes when rollers are out of the track.

What Caused It

Most residential off-track situations come from one of three things: a vehicle made contact with the door (even minor contact can knock a roller out), a cable snapped and let one side of the door drop out of alignment, or the track itself bent or pulled away from the wall. We diagnose the cause first — fixing the track without finding out why it happened means it happens again.

What We Do

We reseat the rollers, check and straighten the track sections, realign the track to the door frame, and inspect the cables and spring for any secondary damage. If the track is bent beyond straightening, we replace the affected section.
