Manaras Omh Commercial Operator — OMH Models and Specifications

The OMH is a single model line: a ½ HP, 115 V single-phase jackshaft operator. It mounts directly on the torsion shaft beside the spring, leaving the ceiling clear for ductwork, racks or mezzanine edges. The motor drives the shaft through a chain-and-sprocket reduction — mechanically simpler than a trolley rail and less exposed to dust.
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| Motor | ½ HP, 115 V single-phase |
| Max door size | 18 ft × 18 ft, standard lift |
| Duty cycle | 12 cycles/hour, 50 cycles/day |
| Manual operation | Hoist-a-Matic chain (powered, engaged) |
| Drive | Chain-and-sprocket to torsion shaft |
Where the OMH Fits — And Where It Doesn’t
The OMH is built for standard commercial sectional doors up to 18×18 ft on standard-lift track. It suits strata parkade entries, auto repair bays, and light industrial units where ceiling space is occupied and only 115 V power is available at the door.
It is not the right choice for doors larger than 18×18 ft, high-traffic loading docks cycling every few minutes, or heavy insulated doors with wind-load struts and reinforced hardware. Those applications need a higher-horsepower, often three-phase operator such as the Manaras OHM or a comparable LiftMaster commercial unit.
Common Failures and How We Repair Them
- Limit switch drift: Vibration shifts the cam positions over time, causing the door to stop short or over-travel. We recalibrate the limits and secure the cam assembly.
- Chain-and-sprocket wear: The reduction chain stretches and sprockets wear, especially in dusty environments. We replace the chain, inspect sprockets, and re-tension.
- Hoist-a-Matic mechanism binding: The manual chain can seize if not exercised. We clean, lubricate and verify free operation so the door can be raised by hand during a power outage.
- Capacitor or motor start failure: Single-phase motors rely on a start capacitor. We test and replace it on site; if the motor windings are damaged, we swap the motor module.
- Wiring and control issues: Loose low-voltage wires at the push-button station or photo-eyes cause intermittent operation. We trace and re-terminate every connection.
Because we stock Manaras parts, most OMH repairs are completed in a single visit across Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, Surrey and the North Shore.
Choosing Between the OMH and Other Operators
If your door is 18×18 ft or smaller, runs on standard-lift track, cycles fewer than 50 times a day, and you have only 115 V at the jamb, the OMH is the logical fit. If any of those limits are exceeded — larger door, high-lift or vertical-lift track, heavier construction, or higher cycle demand — step up to a higher-horsepower model. We assess the door, track geometry and traffic pattern on site and quote per project.
