Manaras Omj Jackshaft Operator — Models & Key Specifications
The OMJ shares the identical motor, reduction and 36 rpm output shaft as the OMH. The only mechanical difference is the manual override: a floor-level disconnect instead of the Hoist-a-matic chain hoist. This makes the OMJ the leaner choice where hand operation during a power loss is either unnecessary or covered by another exit.

What Fails & How We Repair It
The OMJ uses the same externally adjustable friction clutch as the OMH, so clutch wear and adjustment are identical. The disconnect is the unique service point: a floor-level disconnect can be pulled and left disengaged. We have attended multiple calls where the “broken operator” was simply a disconnect handle that hadn’t been pushed back in. Always verify the disconnect is fully re-engaged before assuming a mechanical fault.
When the clutch or brake needs attention, we carry the adjustment tools and replacement clutch packs on our trucks. Control boards, solenoid coils, limit-switch assemblies and safety edges are also stocked for same-day repair in most cases.
Choosing Between OMJ and OMH
Check the data plate on the operator housing — it lists the exact model code, voltage and phase. Note the approximate daily cycle count as well; those three details determine which parts we bring on a service call. If the plate reads OMH, the unit has the chain hoist; if it reads OMJ, it has the floor disconnect.

Common diagnostic tip: On a UL 325 monitored circuit, a failed or misaligned safety device (photo eye or sensing edge) will prevent the door from closing. This is correct safety behaviour, not an operator fault. We test the safety circuit first — it resolves a large share of “door won’t close” calls.
