Up & Down Garage Doors is an authorized Manaras dealer supplying and servicing the Opera-GH series across Richmond, Vancouver, and the Lower Mainland. The OGH replaces traditional belt-and-chain reduction with a 45:1 worm gear running in an oil bath — built for high-torque, low-speed operation on heavy industrial doors where long service intervals matter more than lowest install cost.

Typical Applications

The OGH suits industrial high-lift and vertical-lift sectional doors, rolling doors, and grilles. The oil-bath worm gear delivers consistent torque under sustained load without the belt-tension checks a V-belt drive requires. It’s the sensible spec when door weight and long maintenance intervals drive the decision.

What Fails and How We Repair It

The reducer needs its oil. Level and condition are maintenance items — a unit run low or contaminated is how a long-lived gearhead dies early. The air breather matters too: if blocked, it pressurizes the housing and forces oil past the seals. Beyond the reducer, we regularly replace solenoid brakes, drive chains, and sprockets. Our Richmond shop stocks common wear items for the Opera and MEGA series, so most repairs happen in a single visit.

Choosing Between Models

The MGH is the larger 40:1 worm gear unit for even heavier doors. If you’re unsure which operator you have, check the data plate on the housing — note the model code, voltage, phase, and approximate daily cycles. Those three facts determine what we bring to the call.

Parts and Accessories

Manaras publishes a full accessory range for this operator: monitored and non-monitored photoelectric cells, light curtains, electric and pneumatic sensing edges, interface modules, push-button and key-switch control stations, pull switches, keypads, card readers, radio receivers and transmitters, and traffic-light kits. One common point of confusion: on a UL 325 monitored circuit, a failed safety device makes the operator refuse to close. That’s correct behavior, not a malfunction. A door that suddenly won’t close with no other symptom is often a photo eye or sensing edge that has failed or drifted out of alignment.

Manufacturer Documentation

Original Manaras-Opera documents are available if the paperwork for your installed unit is missing: specification sheet, drive spec sheet, sell sheet, dimension drawing, gearhead manual, and shop drawing.
