Why the Door Still Reverses After Cleaning
Wiping the lenses gets rid of surface grime, but the real problem is often alignment. A sensor that looks clean can still be a fraction of a degree off from vibration, a bumped bracket, or seasonal frame movement. If the LED on the receiving unit flickers or stays dim, the beam isn’t fully landing on target. Loosen the bracket, nudge it until the indicator glows solid, then tighten it back down.
Sunlight hitting the receiver at low angles can also fake an obstruction, especially on south-facing garages in late afternoon. A small shade strip or angled baffle on the hood solves it without moving the sensor. And check the wire run — nicked insulation or a loose staple can give intermittent signal loss that looks exactly like a dirty eye.
