Manaras Omt Trolley Operator — Models and Key Specifications

The OMT is a single model built for standard-lift sectional doors that cycle only a few times per day. It runs on a standard 120 V, single-phase circuit and drives a carriage along dual galvanized tracks rather than turning a torsion shaft.

Item Detail
Motor 1/2 HP, 120 V, 60 Hz, single-phase, intermittent-duty, open type with instant reverse and internal automatic-reset thermal overload protection. Motor removes without disturbing limit settings.
Reduction 4L/A V-belt first step; #48 (#410) chain and sprockets second step. 5/8″ input shaft, 1″ output shaft on ball bearings.
Drive & Trolley #48 (#410) full roller chain.
Track Dual 12-gauge pre-drilled galvanized tracks for doors up to 12 ft high (extra lengths available).
Brake Optional electrically activated drum-band solenoid brake — confirm with inside sales.
Manual Operation Quick-release disconnect arm.
Duty Rating Medium duty, intermittent. Cycle frequency is the limiting factor, not door size alone.

Where This Operator Fits

The OMT suits smaller industrial standard-lift sectional doors on low-cycle schedules — typically a handful of cycles per day. Choose a trolley when there is no torsion shaft to drive or when a ceiling mount is simpler. It is not designed for constant cycling; for higher traffic, the OTH heavy-duty continuous-duty trolley is the appropriate step up.

What Fails and How We Repair It

Thermal Overload Trips

Intermittent-duty motors overheat when a door starts cycling far more than originally specified. The thermal overload trips, the door stops mid-cycle, cools, and restarts — leading to “intermittent” complaints. The root cause is usually an operator under-specified for current usage, not a defective motor. We verify cycle counts, check voltage and phase on the data plate, and recommend the correct upgrade (often the OTH) when usage has changed.

Track and Chain Wear

Misaligned track binds the carriage and loads the motor. Worn #48 (#410) roller chain stretches and jumps. We realign the dual 12-gauge tracks, replace chain and sprockets as needed, and lubricate the carriage path to restore smooth travel.

Choosing Between Models

If you are unsure which unit is on your ceiling, locate the data plate on the operator housing. Note the model code, voltage, phase, and approximate daily cycles — those three facts determine what we bring to a service call. The OTH is the heavy-duty continuous-duty trolley for higher cycle counts. For the full Manaras range, see our commercial garage door repair overview.

Parts and Accessories

Manaras supplies a complete accessory lineup for the OMT: monitored and non-monitored photoelectric cells, light curtains, electric and pneumatic sensing edges, interface modules, push-button and key-switch stations, pull switches, keypads, card readers, radio receivers and transmitters, and traffic-light kits.

Common confusion: On a UL 325 monitored circuit, a failed safety device (photo eye or sensing edge) makes the operator refuse to close. That is correct behaviour, not a malfunction. A door that suddenly will not close with no other symptom is very often a misaligned or failed safety device — we diagnose and replace these quickly.

Service in Metro Vancouver

We stock common OMT parts and carry diagnostic tools for Manaras operators. If you need a new unit installed, a thermal-overload investigation, track realignment, or safety-device troubleshooting, our Richmond-based technicians cover Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, Surrey, and the surrounding area.
