Garage Door Opener Installation — Metro Vancouver

We install LiftMaster and Chamberlain residential openers. These are the brands we recommend because the parts are available, the tech support is real, and they hold up in the Lower Mainland climate — including the cold wet winters that kill cheaper units.

Which Opener Is Right for Your Door

This depends on the door type, how the garage is used, and what you want from a smart home standpoint. Tap each type to compare:

Belt drive — the quiet one

Quieter than chain, good choice for attached garages near living areas or bedrooms. LiftMaster 87504-267 is our most-installed residential unit.

Chain drive — the workhorse

Louder but more durable under heavy use. Better choice for detached garages.

Jackshaft (wall-mount) — the space saver

Mounts beside the door instead of the ceiling. Required for high-lift, low-clearance, or cathedral-ceiling garages where a trolley opener will not fit. Also frees up ceiling space.

Battery Backup

We strongly recommend openers with battery backup for Metro Vancouver homes. BC Hydro outages happen — having your door stuck closed during a winter storm or an evacuation is avoidable. Most current LiftMaster units include backup as standard.

Smart Home Integration

LiftMaster myQ connects to your home WiFi and lets you monitor and control the door from your phone, get open/close alerts, and integrate with Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Apple HomeKit. We set this up as part of the install.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you install LiftMaster openers in Richmond and nearby areas like Burnaby or Surrey?

Yes, we install LiftMaster openers throughout Metro Vancouver, including Richmond, Burnaby, Surrey, and all other listed service areas. Our technicians are based in Richmond and travel daily to these neighborhoods.

What’s the total cost to install a new LiftMaster opener with battery backup in Vancouver?

A new LiftMaster opener unit starts at $369, and installation labor is included in that price for standard residential installs. Battery backup is standard on most current models, so no extra charge unless you need a specific upgrade.

Can I install a garage door opener myself to save money?

We don’t recommend DIY opener installation—it involves electrical wiring, spring tension, and precise alignment that can be dangerous if done incorrectly. Our licensed technicians ensure safe, code-compliant installation with a 2-year warranty on parts and labor.

How long does a typical opener installation take in a Metro Vancouver home?

Most residential LiftMaster opener installations take 2 to 3 hours from start to finish, depending on door type and ceiling access. We aim for same-day service when possible, especially if you call early.

Do you handle opener installations for detached garages in colder areas like Maple Ridge or Pitt Meadows?

Yes, we install chain-drive LiftMaster openers in detached garages across Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, and similar areas—they’re more durable for heavy use and perform well in our cold, wet winters.

Is it safe to use my garage door opener during a power outage if I don’t have battery backup?

No—without battery backup, your opener won’t work during a BC Hydro outage, which could leave you stranded inside or outside your garage. We strongly recommend models with battery backup, especially for winter storm preparedness.

Do you install jackshaft openers for garages with low ceilings in Vancouver homes?

Yes, we install LiftMaster jackshaft (wall-mount) openers for garages with low ceilings, high-lift doors, or cathedral ceilings where a trolley opener won’t fit. This is common in older Vancouver homes and newer builds with limited overhead space.

If I live in North Vancouver or West Vancouver, will I pay more for installation due to travel?

No—our service call fee is $59 residential regardless of location within Metro Vancouver, including North and West Vancouver. There are no extra travel charges; the opener unit and labor pricing are the same across all our service areas.
