If the opener mounts to a living-space ceiling — say a bedroom above the garage — you’ll hear it cycle.
Lighting comes from an LED ring around the motor head. It spreads light evenly across the garage floor without the dark spots you get from a single bulb socket. The diodes don’t burn out, so you’re not climbing a ladder to swap bulbs every winter.
Battery backup is built in. When the grid goes down — and it does around here during windstorms — the opener still runs. That feature alone has saved a few of our customers from being stuck outside in the rain.
No integrated camera on this model. If you want video monitoring, you’d add a separate myQ-compatible camera or a third-party unit.

We start by checking the header and ceiling framing. The 87802 motor head weighs more than a basic contractor-grade opener. If the ceiling joists run parallel to the door, we add blocking. If they run perpendicular, we lag-bolt the mounting bracket directly into two joists. Drywall anchors don’t cut it. Vibration from a chain drive will work them loose inside a month.

Your phone can be on 5 GHz — the app talks to the cloud, not directly to the opener.
