Can I replace just one garage door cable, or do both need doing?

We replace cables in matched pairs. Cables on a residential door wear at a similar rate, so replacing only the failed one usually means the second one fails not long after — and mismatched cables can throw off the door's balance in the meantime.

Is it safe to keep using a door that's making noise?

Usually yes in the short term, but it's worth having it looked at soon. Noise is often an early sign of a part wearing out, and catching it before it fails completely is typically a smaller, cheaper fix.

How do I know if I need a new opener or just a repair?

Many opener problems — dead remotes, misaligned safety sensors, worn drive gears — are repairable without replacing the whole unit. We diagnose in person before recommending a replacement, since a repair is usually the cheaper and faster option when it's available.

Do you work on doors in strata or townhome complexes?

Yes — we service both individual homes and multi-unit properties, including coordinating with property managers when a strata council needs sign-off before work starts.

Do you charge for a diagnostic visit if I don't go ahead with the repair?

We're upfront about our pricing before we start any work, including the visit itself, so you know what to expect before we're at your door — not after.

How long does a typical spring replacement take?

Most single-spring jobs on a standard residential door take under an hour once we're on site, though double-torsion setups or doors needing additional parts can run longer. We'll give you a realistic estimate for your specific door before starting.

Can you match the exact opener brand I already have installed?

In most cases yes — we carry parts and remotes for the major brands and can usually match or upgrade within the same ecosystem so your existing remotes and keypads keep working.

Will you tell me if a repair isn't worth it and I should replace the door instead?

Yes. If a door is old enough, or damaged enough, that repeated repairs are likely to cost more over time than a new installation, we'll say so directly rather than keep patching it. See our new door installation page for what that process looks like.
